Quick Stop in Parma

Along the E35 in the heart of Northern Italy between Bologna and Milano you’ll find the endearing village of Parma. Getting here is the easy part. Italy is so easy to navigate via train or by car.

You can quickly get to Parma via the E35 from Milano or Bologna. It’s also a quick jump from La Spezia along the Italian Riviera. We drove from Rapallo to Bologna and Parma was the perfect break!

Where to Eat

  • Gallo D’Oro

Narrowing down to a single recommendation is simple for me. Make reservations at Gallo D’Oro. This magnificent restaurant serves up the tastiest and freshest Prosciutto di Parma with pillowy bread. It’s an incredibly simple, yet amazing dish to enjoy with a glass (or two) of wine. The trio of ravioli will properly fill you so be indulgent and go for it.

What to Do

  • Parma Cathedral and Baptistery

This particular Cathedral is considered as one of the best examples of a Romanesque constructed cathedrals in all of Italy. The Baptistery is located just next door and is surprisingly large and filled with fantastic art.

  • Piazza Garibaldi

Just south of the cathedral is the Piazza Garibaldi. You’ll find the Palazzo del Governatore, Comune Di Parma and the Church of Saint Paul the Apostle here.

  • Palazzo della Pilotta

Here you’ll find the Farnese Theater, a 1600’s semi-circular theater of old natural woods.

  • Parco Ducale

I’m a huge fan of parks in beautiful cities and Ducale is no exception! A walk through the park after a wonderful lunch is always a great thing!
