The Classic Negroni

This iconic cocktail is as classic as Italian cocktails get! The Negroni is typically served as a pre-dinner cocktail and is as typical as sweet tea in Georgia!

When we moved to Europe, I knew we would fall in love with Italy simply because of the mystique it had while growing up and seeing it’s romanticism and beauty in film. I, however, did not think that we would gravitate to it quite as heavily as we do! As a result, as most of us would (I choose to tell myself it’s not just me and my obsessiveness), we have fallen in love with certain traditions like the aperitivo hour. The Negroni is a classic in this timeframe and is incredibly simple and delicious.

Count Camillo asked his go-to bartender to make a cocktail based on the Americano but stronger, so he replaced the soda water with gin. Viola! The Negroni is born! Classic Negroni

Gluten Free, Vegan

This recipe is incredibly simple and takes just a couple minutes to make.

Ingredients

  • 1 Part Gin

  • 1 Part Sweet Vermouth

  • 1 Part Campari

  • Ice

  • Slice of Orange for Garnish

Method

  1. Pour the Gin, Sweet Vermouth, and Campari into a tumbler or long glass with ice.

  2. Stir well until the outside of the tumbler feels cold, about 30 seconds.

  3. Strain into an Old Fashioned, or Rocks Glass, over a large ice cube. Garnish with Orange slice.
