Visiting Miramonti in Südtirol Italy

While I often find myself daydreaming in memories of the Amalfi Coast and Tuscany, Italy has numerous opportunities for adventure! Our friends said that we should visit Miramonti in Südtirol, a boutique hotel in the Italian Alps, on holiday together. Seeing as how they didn’t kill us or grow tired of our company when on our Spanish adventure, they could certainly be entrusted to planning this trip!

Some say to focus your sights on where you are going and less on the lodging component. I’ve said this, and likely in posts this year. Sometimes it’s rewarding to dial down on the exploring and relish in the relaxation. As time passes, I realize that the lodging can quickly make all of the difference in your travels. Experiencing Miramonti in Südtirol, a boutique hotel is just one example of this revelation.

Miramonti

St. Kathreinstrasse 14, Via S Caterina 14, Hafling, 39010 Merano, Italy

Miramonti is advertised as a ‘boutique hotel,’ which hooked me as these sorts of hotels have really made our recent travels far more unique. Miramonti, however, is much more than a boutique hotel. The level of customer service and management changes when you stay with boutique hotels, which you quickly find here. The best part about our stay was our interactions with the restaurant staff. It’s merely ‘next level.’

Hidden in the alps with infinity pools overlooking cliffs and the city of Merano in the valley, Miramonti is a haven for relaxation and unwinding. I had seen the salt-water infinity pool on Instagram before, yet it was even more beautiful in person. Sunny days at Miramonti gave us the most beautiful views of mountains in the distance. I was fortunate that my wishes for snow went unmet as the views would have paled in comparison.

I was excited about our visit and to spend a long weekend with friends. So much so that I didn’t really know what to expect, nor did I think much of it. I overpacked! Except for morning walks through the forest and dinner each evening, we spent most of the time in our robes. It was the sort of relaxation that we didn’t even know that we needed.

My typical day included sleeping in, enjoying a breakfast overlooking the valley, venturing into the forest for a winter hike, and then relaxing in the Onson Pool, a blend of Japanese bathing and alpine recreation. This pool was new for 2019 and was quite a bit hotter than the 32 C degree Infinity Pool. After relaxing for several hours, we’d shower and get ready, pop some Champagne, play games, and then head to dinner! A few days of this sort of behavior is assuredly enough to relax you!

How to Get Here

Depending on where you are coming from, there can be several variables. I would urge you to Google this based on your travel plan. We drove from Zürich all the way to Südtirol. Roadtrips with friends go by very quickly, especially in a comfortable vehicle! The other fun part of the drive was the 30 CHF vehicle transit through the mountains while parked on a train. That was a first.
