Glühwein

As you stroll through Autumn Festivals and Christmas Markets in Europe there’s a recurring aroma that greets you. It’s one of those aromas that similar to those that take you back to old memories and perhaps this is the case here as well! Whether it’s old memories or the coming of a season or holiday, there’s one staple through Europe that you are sure to enjoy at these festivals while laughing with friends and making new memories: Glühwein. Follow this easy recipe and enjoy!

What is it?

Quite simply, it’s mulled wine, and it’s incredibly easy to make in the convenience of your own home. I tend to prefer a French Burgundy or something not too big so it doesn’t overpower the spices.

Want it extra boozy? I had an awesome Glühwein a couple weeks ago at the Freiburg Christmas Market that had around an ounce of Amaretto in it… give it a shot!

Cheers!
